This is a set of six Georgian Chippendale period (c.1770) mahogany dining chairs. The chairs are of the ladder-back design with the backs having pierced rails, the piercings being edged with find chip carved decoration. The front legs are moulded, with this type of moulding often being called a toad's back moulding. The chairs are in very good clean condition, fully restored and newly reupholstered in the traditional manner. The seats are covered and pattern matched in a light blue embossed silk fabric. The chairs are all sturdy and have no damage. There are minor marks and bruises as expected of chairs of this age, commensurate with age and usage.
