This is a mid 18th century (c.1770) Georgian mahogany Chippendale serpentine chest of drawers, having four long drawers. The chest stands on its original shaped bracket feet, that are decorated with C scroll carving. The drawers are constructed from mahogany throughout (more expensive than the native oak at the time) and retain their original brass handles. The back plates of the handles depict lion masks. The top of the chest exhibits a pleasing grain pattern with the edge being carved with a gradoon moulding. The chest is in totally original condition and exhibits a rich warm colour, with only minor blemishes commensurate with age and usage.
