Catalogue No. 2115
This a late 17th century (c.1690) oak chest of two short and three long drawers from the William and Mary period. The chest is of panelled construction and stands on it's original stile feet. The drawer fronts are veneered in bookmatched panels of elm, decorated with a narrow band of walnut to the edge. The drawers retain their original escutcheon plates although the brass plate handles are later replacements (appropriate to the period). The chest is a good mellow colour and has no damage except for a few minor bumps and bruises commensurate with age and usage. The drawers all work well.
