Catalogue No. 2251
This is an early 18th century (c.1710) Queen Anne period walnut and elm chest of three short and three long drawers. The drawer linings are constructed in oak, with the drawer fronts veneered in book-matched walnut, decorated with a single feather banding. The drawers are fitted with later brass engraved plate handles (appropriate to the period). The chest of drawers stands on turned bun feet. The sides and top of the chest are constructed in elm, which, along with the drawer fronts, has mellowed to a rich warm colour. The chest is in very good clean condition with only minor marks and small old repairs, commensurate with age and usage.
